What are the identifiers and documents on my order?

Four identifiers follow your order: the VON identifies the order itself, the POC confirms the priced configuration, the VIN identifies the physical vehicle once it exists, and the buyers' order is the document that fixes the purchase price between you and Mark Dodge.

Factory Order

Also called a "sold order." A specific vehicle build determined by the customer and then made by the manufacturer for that customer.

VON — Vehicle Order Number

Assigned the moment a factory order is placed, and printed on your order documents. The VON is what you use to track your order on the brand websites through the ordering and build process.

POC — Price Order Confirmation

A detailed printout of the factory order showing exactly which packages and configurations were chosen, with their MSRP and invoice price. It looks nearly identical to the quotes your Order Specialist provided, with your VON listed at the top and your name and address at the bottom.

VIN — Vehicle Identification Number

The individual identification number that stays with the vehicle for its entire life, from pre-build status through the build, its sale transactions, and beyond. It is also what the NHTSA recall lookup uses.

Buyers' Order

The document confirming the purchase price agreed between Mark Dodge and the customer. On a factory order it first reflects the vehicle price, the deposit, and the documentation fee. Your state's taxes, title, and license fees are added at the time of delivery.

Window Sticker

During the build, a virtual window sticker is generated for your VIN. It shows the standard and elected features, estimated fuel efficiency, and the vehicle's MSRP. It does not show the price you agreed to pay. Federal law requires the sticker on every new vehicle under the Automobile Information Disclosure Act, and the fuel figures trace to EPA testing.

What do the money terms mean?

Three numbers sit on every Mark Dodge factory order: a $1,000 deposit that counts toward your down payment, a $436 documentation fee for processing the legal paperwork, and the price-protected sale price itself, which does not move once your order is submitted and accepted.

Deposit

$1,000, non-refundable, required when placing a factory order to guarantee your commitment to the build. It is not a fee: the deposit is applied to the bottom line of your sale price on the buyers' order, acting as part of your down payment. Full terms on the deposit and financing page.

Documentation Fee (Doc Fee)

$436, charged by Mark Dodge to process all legal documents on the dealership's end, including notary work and your Louisiana temporary plate. It appears on your written quote from the start, so the number you compare is the number you pay.

Price Protection

The promise on what you pay for your order. Factory orders are price protected the moment they are submitted and accepted: once your name and address are applied to the submitted order, your buyers' order price does not change, even if MSRP goes up. The window sticker on your VIN may show a higher value; you pay the agreed price. Price protection applies to you alone and cannot be transferred to another buyer.

Affiliate

What do the build and delivery terms mean?

Transport is the vehicle traveling from the factory to Mark Dodge. PDI is the inspection and prep it gets on arrival. Delivery is you taking possession, and shipping is the optional last leg from the dealership to your address. In that order, every time.

Transport

The finished vehicle making its way from final assembly to the dealership, by rail to Port Allen, Louisiana, then by truck to Lake Charles. Trackable stage by stage with your VON.

PDI — Pre-Delivery Inspection

Once your vehicle is manufactured and transported to the dealership, it arrives in "ship mode." It is then cleaned, has functions and features turned on or calibrated, is filled with all necessary fluids, and is inspected for safety, functionality, and cosmetic transport damage before you ever see it.

Delivery

When you, the customer, receive possession of the vehicle. That can mean driving it straight off the lot, or taking financial and liability possession while it waits on the lot a few days for shipping.

Shipping

The vehicle traveling from the dealership to your chosen location. Mark Dodge delivers the vehicle, or picks you up, at no additional charge within 300 miles of the dealership. Beyond that, shipping is arranged and quoted through the Logistics Manager.

Stellantis

The parent company that manufactures Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles, among other brands internationally. Every factory order Mark Dodge places goes through the Stellantis order system.
